Trigger, crank'n it up to 2.7

Trigger, the ultimate wallpaper changer and desktop manager, has matured to the next level with a massive release. This is a must upgrade for all existing Trigger users and a great new desktop app for those who haven't yet faced Trigger.

Trigger 2.7 has a host of changes, fixes and new features. This is (just part of) what you get with this release:
- Trigger now runs on an XML data format instead of the previous database setup;
- Faster app loading and running time;
- Added Explorer context menu support. Depending on Trigger options selected, you can right-click on any folder, bmp, gif, jpg or jpeg file and specify from the context menu which mood you want to add the images to. The menu will also display up to two suggested new Moods that can be created for the selected files. These will be based on the name of the file and its parent folder;
- Added drag/drop support to the list of images of the current mood. Where Trigger is visible, dragging files and/or folders onto the list of images will add any supported image files found in those items to the current mood;
- Added accessibility via System Tray and/or Taskbar;
- Added quick mood switching through the system tray and taskbar menu;
- Added installer options using a new version of NSIS;
- Added better support for command-line parameters. You can now send folders and files to Trigger and it will add them to the current mood. This means that you can drag and drop items from explorer to the Trigger desktop icon or exe file in the installation folder;
- Added Delete key support to the selected images. This will remove the images in the same manner as if the remove/delete button on the skin was clicked;
- Redesigned options window with heaps more features. Much easier to use;
and much more.

Trigger - 2.7.53

There is so much in this release. These are just some of the updates:

  • Converted Trigger database to XML format.
  • Faster app loading and running time.
  • Smaller app file size.
  • Redesigned options window with heaps more features.
  • Added Explorer context menu support. Way cool!
  • Added SendTo link option in the installation package.
  • Added drag/drog support to the list of images of the current mood.
  • Added support for the jpeg file extension as well as jpg. Can't believe I missed that one... Opps.
  • Added better double click code to the System Tray.
  • Added detection of explorer crashes so that the Trigger icon is added back to the system tray when the taskbar is created.
  • Added accessibility via System Tray and/or Taskbar.
  • Added quick mood switching through the system tray and taskbar menu.
  • Added ability to cancel adding a folder of image by clicking the Add Folder button again while in the process of searching for and adding images.
  • Added better handling of wallpapers that don't exist or are empty files.
  • Added better redrawing of the Trigger window when a color has been selected for a wallpaper and the color dialog is closed.
  • Added single left click on the system tray to give Trigger the focus and set it as the top window when it is not hidden and Taskbar isn't used.
  • Added installer options and cleanup code from previous version installations.
  • Added installer setup options to set Trigger to start automatically for all users of the computer.
  • Added scolling code to the list of images so that the selected image is roughly in the middle of the visible list.
  • Added better support for command-line parameters.
  • Added Delete key support to the selected images.
  • Transparency range amounts changed from 0-255 to 0-100.
  • Disabled rendering of the preview image if the skin doesn't display the preview box.
  • Disabled the change wallpaper timer when menus or dialogs are open.
  • Disabled the Trigger menu if the Options window is already open.
  • Fixed bug that made Trigger start up being transparent while having focus when transparent option set to be transparent when in active only.
  • Fixed bug that didn't allow the change amount of the timer to be anything but 1 (minute, hour, week, day, month).
  • Fixed black transparency bug. Trigger would appear black when transparency was used and Trigger was started in a hidden state and then displayed.
  • Fixed bug that added any file type when adding images by folder.
  • Fixed bug that set default image colors to black if the color dialog was cancelled in the Options window.
  • Fixed system tray menu bug that didn't dismiss the menu when focus was lost.
  • Fixed bug that restarted Trigger when Close was selected from the System Tray.
  • Fixed weird bug in the image preview where screen res is 1280x1024. The VB runtime would incorrect return screen res after about 1 hour of runtime.
  • Dropped support for Window 98 and Windows ME. Windows 2000 and Windows XP are now the supported platforms. Trigger still works on 98 and ME but can be unstable on the 9x platform.
  • Updated ReadMe file.
  • Updated SDK file.

Trigger has been developed for use on Windows XP and Windows 2000 Operating Systems. Older Windows systems are unsupported but may still run this software.

Microsoft Visual Basic 6 runtimes and MSXML 3 are required to install and run Trigger. The Visual Basic 6 runtimes should be installed by default on both 2000 and XP but XML3 may need to be installed.

Transparency is only available on Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems.

Canberra fires

Some of you may have heard that over the last two week, Australia has been severely affected by bushfires. Three of our states have been badly affected with the worst being in my city two weekends ago. Canberra lost at least 530 houses in a couple of hours.

Most of this devastation happened on a Saturday afternoon where day turned into night. Check out some of the photos. These have to be seen to be believed.

I have been close to releasing my next release of Trigger several times over the last two months, but I keep having good ideas for more features to add. It is looking like a great version and should be out soon.

Sorry to keep you waiting. I know you want it. :)

My best wishes to you all for the new year.
